Dr. Hauke Licht

Hauke is a post-doctoral researcher in the ERC-funded MINORITYRULE project lead by Prof. Dr. Proksch. In his research, he develops and applies text-as-data methods to study electoral competition and democratic representation. He has a particularly strong interest in applications to multilingual text data and the intersection of political text analysis and natural language processing methods.

Hauke earned his PhD at the Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich under the supervision of Tarik Abou-Chadi. In his dissertation, Hauke examines how political text collections' increasing volume, variety, and granularity can be harnessed to study party competition across countries and languages. Previously, he studied political science and sociology at Humboldt University Berlin and international relations in a joint Master's program of the Freie Universität Berlin, the Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Potsdam.
